How to Thrive with Horses in Later Life

What I am going to share through this series comes from my direct experience of a lifetime with horses.

While working as a horse trainer and rider I found my world starting to change as I got past 50. My courage and balance changed, and I found myself clinging to how I should feel, not how I was actually feeling. Change needed to happen, but letting go was hard.

As often happens, the universe made the choices for me, and adapted to those changes by creating a formula to help me reassess my life with horses. I am going to share how I did it. It turned everything around for me.

As older riders you deserve to be heard, and to have solutions to your challenges. Through this series I will be sharing the WISE formula and a way to tackle any horse problem that is holding you back, from confidence to stability.

With an easy to implement formula I will help you turn your life with horses around.

This Formula is the lens through which you can view all possibilities and your future life with horses.

When you make choices that support your wellbeing, you may realise the equine dreams you are striving for are holding you captive, destined to failure. Together we can change the game and feel inspired again.

Let me help you chose your goals to better align with your stage of life. Watch your smile and purpose with horses return. Remember, this is meant to be fun!

Let’s remove the mind chatter of “I should be” or “I am not good enough anymore” or “this is pointless” and let the good times roll again, surrounded by like minded people who understand.

When I created the formula, I knew I wasn’t alone and wondered if it could help my friends and students who were harboring similar struggles.

We call ourselves the Wise Riders, and whether we ride our horses or not, it is fitting!

Our horses have become a positive outlet once again and our relationships with them and ourselves have deepened.

This series is an introduce into how the WISE rider’s concept can change your life with horses.

You are wiser, more creative, and more intelligent because of your aging, not despite it. Let’s stop fighting it and learn to thrive.

There is precious little time to waste. ……. Join our incredible community of WISE riders.”

In this series, Andrea will share her story, the Formula she uses for her work with horses, and examples of how YOU can use this same formula. Then, we will be opening the Wise Riders Club to the public. It won’t open again until next May.

We are starting a movement… are you in? 😉

“I am so thankful for this Community! I just had a great ride and it was FUN again! It bought tears to my eyes . The messages from these two webinars have changed my perspective and I have found my JOY in riding again.

A brief background, I am nearly eighty and have ridden and owned horses since I was 20 but last year I had to retire my riding horse due to her health issues. I was given lovely 20 year old warmblood gelding but after year of trying , we have yet to connect to a happy state of riding with both of us being very tense. After listening to Wendy and Andrea, I put a neck strap on him and went for a ride. He relaxed and I relaxed and the rest is history. I found all his buttons and we just flowed together.

I don't know if this was a "one off" or not but the support from this community has given me my "riding wings " again. I was beginning to think that I was at the end of my riding dream but I am flying again!

Thank you Wise Riders!!!!”

About Andrea Wady

Hey, I’m Andrea Wady.

Life always comes in chapters. When picking up a book one hopes for an unique story, a journey that lifts you up and spins you around. That has certainly been my experience and I don’t regret a thing….nor is it over yet!

My life story with horses thus far consists of the “Show them who’s boss” chapter of my youth. This, thankfully, led to the “I thought I knew horses but I don’t” segment from my late 20’s.

The “Learn from everyone I can” phase was incredible, and naturally led me, albeit tentatively, into the “I think I might have something to share” section.

Like every good book there are adventures, twists and turns. From walking across Costa Rica with rescue horses and writing a book about it, teaching clinics around the world and building an equine education program called Pure Liberty, I have no regrets.

We all hope for a happy ending and I was on course, except for one thing, you can’t stop the march of time. With that natural passing comes change. The inevitable creeping of age. I felt my enthusiasm wane as tiredness set in. The goals I set for myself seemed insurmountable.

As I grew older and didn’t want to get hurt, I felt less inclined to climb on the back of young, or unpredictable horses. I began to feel a shift and I wasn’t sure I liked it.

I didn’t want to surrender, but knew I had to find a way to reframe how I would approach the later chapters of my life with horses.

This led me to create a formula for myself. I called it the WISE riders formula. It helped me immensely and now I find deep joy in sharing it with my students around the world.

And I remind myself that “Aging is a privilege denied to many”

I want to bring us later life riders together. To unite us, to share honestly, and together, to ride wisely through the years.

Will you join me?
