  1. Excellent! My goal for my horse is to get to his mind! He catches on quickly, he’s smart. Great ! But his poor attitude hinders my attitude as well. Hopefully your advice will help us both.

  2. Like Callie I love how half pass at the trot looks. It’s just beautiful and something I am always working towards!

I love in hand work and this free workshop is awesome. Patrick explains the techniques so well and I look forward to the webinar.

    Thank you!

  3. Thank you Patrick for explaining the “how and the why” of this inhand work. I never really thought about the importance of it until now as my horse is experiencing some difficulty doing certain things. What would I like to be able to get better at?….I’d like to be able to do any moves with a relaxed softness. Even when I ask my mare inhand to shift weight to the hind end without moving she is putting her head up and bracing. So today I endeavoured to focus on being relaxed. Slight pressure on the nose and she reached forward and down, staying there for a moment. This is huge for her as it’s not her “go to”. Small steps but in the right direction. 🥰🐴

  4. Patrick makes it look so easy. I want to help my horse relax and stretch. I’m new to the dressage world and look forward to learning more.

  5. I am new to this but I am finding it very beneficial to my reactive mare. I am already able to bring her head down and have moments of relaxation. Can’t wait for the next video.

I need to get her attention on me and this is wonderfully building our relationship after a few years off work due to illness (both of us).

  6. II love how Patrick explains everything, and makes it look so easy. I personally do always in hand work before zi get in the saddle. It makes my mare so much looser and connected. My goal is learning the evade in hand.

  7. I love the videos! Patrick makes it look easy and I hope I can accomplish these moves. I have a quick question. My 17 yr old green mare has a little trouble bending more to one side than the other and she gets distracted easily. I want to start working with her with these exercises. Do you have a certain amount of time to start with – approx 5 min a day, every other day? She is very smart but I don’t want to over push. Thoughts? Thank you!

  8. I wouldn’t call heavy on the forehand a comformation flaw.

It’s natural for them to be on their forehand. It’s when the rider gets on that it becomes a problem because it’s not natural to be carrying us.

what we need to do is help them find a different balance when we get on so they do not break down.

  9. Really nice to watch him work, but I am waaaay back on the stretching through the neck with a horse who does not like you to take hold of her halter and restrict her head movement at all. She definitely holds tension in her neck so getting her attention and getting her to stretch and keep stretching rather than popping back up is a goal. Long ways to go…

  10. The horse was lose and releasing tension until you used the snaffle.
It was more of a pulling motion with the snaffle use.
In hand work would work better for me and horses I know , would be with a bit less bridle or a rope halter.

  11. My OTTB is just starting to understand leg yield and turn on forehand using the wall for support. On the ground, I’d like to learn all the movements you showed in video 2! I think I will start with the counter bend.

  12. Love ground work and it’s great to see the connection to using the bridle. Question: do you work from the off side as well?

  13. I can’t wait to try these exercises w!ith my horse!! I would like to know how to tie that knot with the lead line so it stays up there around his neck. Not sure it can be conveyed in words

  14. I had a little try of this today and found I could get just a few steps, so I am over the moon!

I wish I had more time to practise these things. There always seem to be so many chores to take care of before work or we get rained off.

  15. Would love to get Piaffe, from there Passage. Find that I create tension when I attempt movements like this. Have been working on inhand and find difficult, I am 5’2 mare is 16’2 tank, not sure if this should matter?
